The aim is to use the data collected to understand fruit fly population dynamics and distribution so strategies and action plans can be implemented to reduce the impact of the pest in our region.
It should be noted that these traps are for monitoring use only and will not protect crops from fruit fly.
From a community perspective everybody can assist in reducing fruit Fly populations by picking their produce, pruning their fruit & vegetable plants and protecting them during the growing season with such items as netting or suitable cover spray for home gardens.
Members of the Fruit Fly Monitoring team will be easily identified by their hi-visibility vest and logo’s and will have credentials from IK Caldwell (accredited partner) or the Shire Council.
Should any residents have concerns please do not hesitate to contact participating council’s customer service on:

No Flies On Us!
The Goulbourn Murray Valley Regional Governance Group would like to advise Residents in Cobram, Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura and Kyabram areas that they will see over the course of the next few weeks the deployment of Queensland Fruit Fly Traps in select locations throughout the towns.
The traps form part of a program to monitor fruit fly populations throughout the region in both urban and farming areas during the different season and will be strategically located in a grid referencing system to allow for the data collected over a 2year period to be monitored and actioned on.
